African American Heritage Art
As part of our mission of promoting, preserving, and protecting our heritage, we have commissioned three murals to commemorate Black heritage here on the Eastern Shore. Art can be a powerful tool to teach our history with its capacity to affect emotions and captivate the observer. By tying together history and art, these murals capture the lesser known moments in history and exposes them to a wider audience. From Frederick Douglass coming to Salisbury, the citizens of Crisfield who made a difference in their community, and the Black workers who kept Ocean City running, these murals reflect our Black heritage.
