2025

2025 Recap

The Beach to Bay Heritage Area was hard at work in 2025, but the fruits of our labor made the efforts worthwhile! It was a rewarding year full of achievements including:
  • The completion and screening of our documentary Warriors Beyond the Battle Field: African Americans in the Armed Forces which highlighted Black war veterans from the Eastern Shore. It won an audience choice award at the Ocean City Film Festival and best documentary at the Black Filmmakers Festival in Toronto, Canada!
  • Development of the Cape to Cape Scenic Driving Tour, linking Cape May, NJ, with Cape Henry, VA.  This multi-state project saw collaboration between New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, and Virginia to create an enticing coastal experience.
  • Received an MHT award for Excellence in Public Programming and Exhibits for our African American Heritage Project.
  • Unveiling of a mural by Jay Coleman outside of the Henry Hotel in Ocean City paying tribute to the building's history as well as the involvement of African Americans in the creation of the iconic resort town.
  • Redevelopment of the Beach to Bay Indian Trail into History, Heritage and Homelands. This is a more respectful and authentic depiction of Native American Heritage. A companion booklet and interpretive signs along the National Recreation Trail will help promote an accurate representation of Native American heritage on the Eastern Shore.
  • Awarded the Richard A. Henson Award for Nonprofit Excellence by the Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore in recognition of our lasting contributions to the region.
